Generational Breakdown

  • Gen Z makes up the largest % of people moving to the Midwest.

  • Recent data shows that Chicago has become the second most popular destination for college graduates relocating within the United States.

  • 55% of individuals either have a bachelors degree or are actively working towards one.

Origins of Migrating Populations

  • A significant number of individuals relocating to the Midwest are arriving from California, Florida, and Texas.

  • 97,000 individuals have moved from California to the Midwest in the last few years.

  • The influx of new movers are in search of cheaper housing and a lower cost of living.

📊 Chart of the Week

My alma mater DePaul University ranks as the 5th top university for business founders.

The study pulled data from Crunchbase to show that 40.45% of DePaul graduates end up starting businesses in the city.

Columbia College Chicago also made the list, with 33.33% of its graduates choosing to set up companies in Chicago.
